Groundbreaking designers are revolutionizing high-rise living and creating stylish new vertical villages in the world’s greatest cities. This is the first interiors publication to focus primarily on high-rise homes – timely and inspiring reading for anyone who aspires to stylish city living
To be at the centre of a great city such as London, Hong Kong, New York or Mumbai is to feel at the heart of the world. Yet as our cities continue to expand at a frenetic pace, land for new homes is in short supply, as is the sense of belonging to a local community.
The new vertical village offers a stylish solution to urban living, with communal spaces that foster interaction between neighbours and designs that conserve land, energy and materials. Thanks to cutting-edge designers, architects and developers, these new high-density urban complexes are reinventing city living as a luxurious and desirable lifestyle.

Produced in collaboration with leading lifestyle and interiors developer yoo, Vertical Living gives unprecedented access to dozens of the world’s most stylish apartments, lushly illustrated with 140 colour images and accompanied by an extensive project directory. The book also features new interviews with top international designers such as Philippe Starck, Kelly Hoppen and Marcel Wanders, who give exclusive insight into the art of creating beautiful, innovative spaces for urban living.
Dominic Bradbury is a design writer and freelance journalist who contributes to many magazines and newspapers around the world, including The Telegraph, the Financial Times, House & Garden and World of Interiors. His many books include Mediterranean Modern, New Natural Home, The Iconic House and The Iconic Interior, all published by Thames & Hudson. He lives in Norfolk.
John Hitchcox is one of Europe’s most innovative design-based property developers. As co-founder of the Manhattan Loft Corporation, he is credited with establishing New York-style loft living in London with pioneering projects in Clerkenwell, Soho, Notting Hill, Canary Wharf and Bankside. He established yoo in collaboration with Philippe Starck in 1999; the company now has developments in nearly thirty countries worldwide.
